Who we are

SETT (Setting Early Transitional Tactics) is a student-centered transition support program that helps young people prepare for life after school through reflection, skill-building, and intentional planning.

SETT supports students in understanding who they are, what they can do, and where they want to go. Through guided activities, conversations, and planning tools, students build confidence, develop essential life skills, and learn how to make informed decisions about their future.

The SETT program helps students:

  • Identify their strengths, interests, values, and learning styles

  • Build readiness and life skills such as organization, communication, and self-advocacy

  • Understand real-world responsibilities, including decision-making, money awareness, and independence

  • Explore postsecondary options such as college, careers, training programs, and employment

  • Clearly explain their goals and plans using their own voice

SETT is intentionally designed to support English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with disabilities by using accessible language, structured supports, visual tools, and flexible approaches that honor different learning styles, communication needs, and levels of readiness.

SETT invites students and their support systems to be active partners in a transformative transition planning journey. By working together, families, educators, counselors, and service providers help students reflect, set goals, and apply their learning to real-world experiences across home, school, and community settings.

SETT recognizes that transition planning is a process, not a one-time event. Students revisit their goals as they grow, gain experience, and learn more about themselves. The program provides structure, language, and support so students can take ownership of their path and move forward with clarity—one step at a time.

Because Students Deserve More Than Just Finishing School

Too many students reach adolescence without the tools needed to navigate life after graduation. SETT bridges the gap between school and adulthood by providing intentional transition planning, special education consultation, and curriculum that prepares students for postsecondary education, careers, financial independence, and independent living.
